About Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance

Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance was established in Muharram 1414 AH, during the reign of king Fahd Bin Abdul-Aziz, to supervise all matters relating to Da’wah inside and outside Saudi Arabia. It also gives attention to affairs relating to Endowments and affairs, maintenance and cleanness of Mosques and plazas. In addition, it supervises King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an, organizes local and international competitions for Qur’an and Hadith inculcation, supervises Islamic centers, supports Islamic minorities outside, coordinates with Islamic institutions and supports Islamic universities and institutes.

General Objectives

First, Caring of Reading, Intonation, Inculcation, Understanding and Popularization of the Holy Qur’an Including the following:
  • 1. Continuing publications of King Fahd Complex for the Printing of The Holy Qur’an and translating of the meaning of the Holy Qur’an into different languages according to Sharia teachings;
  • 2. Supporting and caring of Islamic centers for Qur’an inculcation and encouraging Muslims to inculcate and intonate of the Holy Qur’an;
  • 3. Organizing local and international competitions for the Holy Qur’an and Hadith inculcation annually; and
  • 4. Publishing books of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith teachings.
Second, inviting and guiding people to Islam Including the following:
  • 1. Preparing, choosing and distributing well qualified preachers;
  • 2. Urging Muslims to adhere with Islamic teachings and inviting non-muslims with wisdom and fair admonition;
  • 3. Supporting Kingdom’s efforts in Islamic solidarity and deepening this concept among Muslims;
  • 4. Deepening brotherhood concept among Muslims;
  • 5. Releasing, Printing and distributing Islamic books; and
  • 6. Fighting destructive movements and principles that arise in the name of Islam.
Third, Protecting Islamic Values and Caring of Mosques Including the following:
  • 1. Constructing mosques to perform congregational prayers;
  • 2. Caring, maintaining and cleaning mosques, plazas and Islamic centers to reach appropriate level; and
  • 3. Deepening the role of mosques as enlightening centers for guidance and spreading the good and fighting the bad.
Fourth, Supporting Islamic Minorities and Studying Their Cases Including the following:
  • 1. Participating in conducting studies and scientific researches about Muslims living in non-Muslim societies; and
  • 2. Following up and supporting Islamic activities.
Fifth, ShowingKingdom’s Role in Supporting Islamic Activities Including the following:
  • 1. Organizing and supervising Islamic conferences and forms;
  • 2. Caring of Saudi Islamic centers and institutes outside the kingdom and studying the possibility of providing assistance to other Islamic centers and organizations; and
  • 3. Utilizing media to show the role that kingdom plays in serving Islam and Muslims.
Sixth, Handling Social Issues and Negative Phenomena According to Islamic Shari`a Including the following:
  • 1. Specifying community-related issues and matter and allowing it via specialized authorities within the ministry;
  • 2. Permitting issues and matters via specialized authorities within ministry in the purpose of unifying guidance and enlightenment; and
  • 3. Conducting researches and studies that handle social issues.
Seventh, Increasing Performance Quality and Improving productivity
  • 1. Training and preparing national individuals, through joining specialized universities and institutes, to raise performance level; and
  • 2. Using modern technologies, including computer.

Achievements

  • Preparing preachers and speakers: the ministry set a program for preparing preachers and speakers which aims at developing current preachers and speakers and preparing future preachers and speakers. It provided methods with multi-levels to train preachers and speakers.
    Theses methods have been achieved with long-turn or short-turn courses in different regions of the kingdom.
    Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, the Islamic University in Madinah, Al-Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, Ministry of Education and some other organizations cooperate with Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da’wah and Guidance in carrying out theses courses.
    These courses have multi-levels, including beginner, immediate and advanced levels.
    There is no doubt that these courses will have a great effect on preachers and speakers’ performance.
  • Authorship and Translation: the ministry has a plan to release 150 researches in different fields and to translate more than 130 books. As for printing field, 3.705.000 copies were published and there are about 740.000 copies under printing.
    As for tapes, there are more than 500 subjects and over one million tapes with different languages were distributed during Pilgrimage and other occasions.
    More than 8.000.000 copies were distributed inside and outside the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
