Islam establishes great principals to protect the properties of others.
It punishes those who commit the crime of theft with amputation.
But, the punishment of amputation is not implemented in all cases.
There are many cases in which the thief is pardoned from amputation as during the times of famine or if the worker stole from his boss who withhold his pay or when the property was public property or the value of property is less than certain amount or if the property was not kept in proper place.
But in case of implementing the punishment of amputation, the organ is removed surgically not as pictured by media as hack off by meat clever or a chain saw. Further, because of the many precautions to apply this punishment, amputation is rarely practiced in Muslim courts, however, the existence of such punishment plays an important role in deterrence.
