Muslims Are Not Violent, Terrorist Or Extremists

There should be a clear distinction between what some followers of a certain religion do and what their religion teaches them to do. Unfortunately, there are some Muslims who commit wrong doings in the name of Islam and try to justify them. It becomes worse when it involves the loss of lives.
Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Islam does not condone any act involving harming lives or property, but rather makes it punishable act.
The violent acts carried by criminals, whether Muslims o ot, are considered to be crimes and should be pursued in the court of justice.
It is true that there are some Muslims who wrongfully try to justify their violent act in a frank and clear violation of the sacredness of the Islamic scripture. It is clearly stated in the Qur`an that the Message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) “is mercy to human beings” Al-Anbiya` (21:107).
Violence against the vulnerable members of society is a deviant behavior conducted by cruel individuals regardless of their religious background.
On the other hand, terrorism cannot be justified under any valid interpretation of Islam. The entire Qur`an, taken as a complete text, gives a message of hope, faith, and peace to faith community of more than one billion people.
The overwhelming message is that peace is to be found through faith in God, and justice among fellow human beings. Muslim leaders and scholars do speak out against terrorism in all its forms, and uncover the deviant interpretations of the Islamic sacred texts.
It is true that there are elements in the Muslim community who take extreme views against others, some attribute such extremism as an unreasonable reaction to socio-economic underdevelopment or social injustice or ignorance. However, extreme views of sacred texts are not only Islamic but universal to other followers of religions. Nevertheless, sound views in Islam are the middle ones and that of kind nature, where respect, harmony and coexistence are taken into consideration.
